Dear Readers:

As of today, I am done blogging.  I will continue writing op-eds, which I will link here. But the “daily” grind of blogging is too much.

Many thanks for reading.

  • Cheers Jeff. I know the feeling.

I have been following your posts since September ‘09, and have greatly enjoyed them.

I’ll have to find another source for news from across the pond, though I look forward to your op-ed links.

Noooo!! I will convince you out of this. This is absolutely horrible news. You are one of the only good original libertarian blogs on the internet. I don’t know what I am going to do now.

You don’t have to blog every single day or week, maybe you can blog once a month? Maybe just short thoughts? Better yet, Dr. Miron, you know what you should do? Tweet. Then you only use 140 characters to get out your libertarian insights. If that’s a little too little, then just do small 3 sentence Facebook comments. Op-eds are too much detail for today’s world, people just need regular updates on current events!

    Will miss you, please reconsider!

If the majority feel the same way, we really are doomed!

Blogs are a mixed blessing. What people really need is to read some good books, and think deeply about our situation.

But if you like links and soundbites, you’ll find them here:

I am sorry to see you go. Your blog offered a rare blend of insight, clarity, and succinctness. Even when I don’t agree with your point of view, your posts are invariably thought provoking. I will certainly keep reading your op-eds.

    Many thanks for your efforts.

Long time reader, appreciate the time you spent.

  • Joy

I liked your commentary on current events and the brevity of your posts. Hopefully this means more op-eds!

  • Dan

Loved the posts Jeff – you were at the very top of my Google Reader RSS feed. Best of luck with your newly freed up time!

  • Michael H. Wilson

Thanks for the work you put into this and for the info I got out of it.

Always great to read another Libertarian.

  • Ben Schenker

Thanks for everything! I really love your blog.

  • Brian

Thank you. This blog is on my bookmark page and has been checked daily for 2 years. It will be missed.

if it means anything, i also would vote for a reconsideration!!!

  • Ian

I certainly know the feeling. Thanks for the blogging you did. I’m not a libertarian but I liked reading your blog for a reasoned, informed libertarian viewpoint. Best of luck to you!

  • Steven

But I moved on to you after Scott Sumner stopped blogging.

    :(

    Jeff,

Since watching your very early thought leadership on the drug war, I’ve considered that the highest and best purpose for your smart, confident libertarian voice and ready-for-prime-time composure is to reach as broad an audience as possible. I’m not sure how much time the blog took, but support the decision to focus on reaching established, broad audiences if that is the tradeoff. Your readership here is already on board.

You might consider having future op-ed articles picked up and archived on Lew Rockwell if an agreement could be reached. I hope it can.

Although I hold out little hope for the political will to correct fundamental governance problems and trends in the United States without a crisis many times worse than 2008, I do see progress in the areas of your speciality, particularly in regards to soft drug decriminalization (and likely legalization for taxation), along with new movement on the existing 21+ prohibition on alcohol. The value of your voice and standing in these debates is high.

Thank you for being willing to make such a public commitment to so many principled ideas. Many of us would love to do the same but have employment or other factors that create unfortunate constraints. We are relying on voices like yours to speak for us.

  • Cyril Morong

I hope you blog at least occassionally. If you come across a great piece of information or research, please share it. The more people speaking up for liberty the better, even if you don’t do it every day. If you only blogged once a month, I would keep checking this site. Maybe you could just post what your op-ed columns are about

  • Peg

Aaack; no! Jeff, please add my voice to those who hope you can do even a small bit of blogging. Some better than none!

And – please consider posting your op/ed’s on Facebook. Nice venue for viewpoints being readily accessible and shared.

It has been a pleasure to read your blog. I would just like to thank you for all the great work that you do.

  • Laura

Have to add another comment to the “Nooooo!” brigade – this is my favorite blog – I find your commentary refreshing, insightful, and it’s a guilty pleasure b/c it is soooo entertaining too. Noone will hold an occasional post against you! Thanks for all the efforts this blog has entailed.

  • You don’t have to blog every day, just don’t stop please
